No. TherapyFriend is not a licensed therapist, counselor, or mental health professional. It is an AI-powered emotional support companion, designed to offer reflective listening, compassionate prompts, grounding tools, and self-inquiry practices.

Think of it as a journal that talks back — kind, curious, and non-judgmental.

If you’re in crisis or need professional help, please seek out a qualified therapist or contact your local emergency or support services.

Is it faith-based?

TherapyFriend is spiritually open and trauma-informed. It offers optional Christian reflections and prayers if that feels supportive to you — but always with gentleness and respect for your beliefs, your journey, and your pace.

Is this AI safe to talk to?

Yes — within the scope of its design. TherapyFriend is built with OpenAI’s trusted language technology and hosted securely to protect your privacy.

However, it is not infallible. It does not store your personal information after the conversation ends (unless you are logged in and choose to save interactions). It does not have memory of prior chats unless you start a new session within a logged-in space that allows for it.

While we’ve trained it to be compassionate, it’s still just a tool — not a human being, not a replacement for therapy, and not capable of emergency care.

Is my data private?

We take your safety and privacy seriously. Conversations are encrypted in transit, and any optional memory features (for logged-in users) are used only to improve your continuity of care — not sold or shared.

  • If you’re using TherapyFriend without logging in, your conversations are not stored or remembered. Everything is wiped at the end of the session.

  • If you’re a logged-in member, your conversations may be securely stored in our encrypted backend. This helps provide continuity — so the AI companion can “remember” the thread of your healing journey (only with your consent).

  • We never sell your data. Ever.

You’re always in control. You can view, delete, or opt out of stored interactions at any time from your user settings.

What if I get triggered or overwhelmed?

We’ve included gentle grounding tools, breathing prompts, soothing visualizations, and faith-based reflections to support you if strong emotions arise.
